Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog

General: A large bulldog the Alapaha is a well developed unexaggerated bulldog with a broad head natural drop ears and a prominent muzzle. The Alapaha can be found in black, white, merle, blue, with our without marbling, buff, brown and spotted 

Origin: Georgia USA.

History: A result of Lana Lou Lanes program to restore the old Georgia plantation bulldogs her father kept.  The Alapaha is said to have a long working past but most of what is there today is a result of Lana Lou's program in the 1980's and 90's. It is stated that her dogs were developed from White English Bulldogs, Colby American Pit Bull Terrier, Catahoula Leopard Dogs and a small percent of Johnson type American Bulldogs.

Temperament: Generally are good dogs for family and farm most have strong working drives combined with great size and should not be owned by a novice. This breed can be aggressive to humans and other animals.

Size:  60 pounds to 125 pounds. 

Today's Uses: family guard dogs, weight pull, protection dogs and as catch dogs for large wild game. Some Farms and Ranches employ Alapaha's across the United States today for catching wild boar.
